Q: How can I contact the Mermaid Kat Shop UK?
A: Please contact the Mermaid Kat Shop with an email to: email@example.com
Q: Who can swim in a mermaid tail?
A: Mermaid tails are suitable for experienced swimmers who are at least 8 years old. When using a mermaid tail in the water you must be very confident in the water and should only do mermaiding under supervision or with an experienced buddy. Kids with shoe size smaller than 34 EU may use thick socks for a proper fit in the mermaid mono fin.
Q: Are mermaid tails safe to use in the water?
A: Mermaid tails are no swimming devices and should only been used by strong swimmers who can swim in deep water without any assistance. You should only swim in your mermaid tail with an experienced buddy or under supervision. As your legs are tight together you are in a higher risk of injury as a self-rescue might be more difficult in an emergency situation. Mermaiding is exhausting! Train your way up and get used to your mermaid tail before you use it in open water or deep water swims. We also recommend you to visit a mermaid school that teaches you the proper use of your mermaid tail.
Q: Which mermaid tail is the right one for me?
A: Fabric mermaid tails are great mermaid tails for children, beginners and mermaids/ mermen who travel a lot. They are light, easy to handle and affordable. Although the silicone mermaid tails are the tails every mermaid and merman dreams of. It looks as realistic as no other mermaid tail. As silicone is neutrally buoyant they is wonderful for swimming. With the weight of 8-15 kg a silicone mermaid tail is not really easy to carry and so it’s not the best mermaid tail to travel. As silicone is quite flexible there are good chances for you to find another mermaid/ mermen buying a used silicone mermaid tail off of you if you are still growing.

Q: What is mermaiding?
A: Mermaiding is swimming in the dolphin swim style while wearing a mono fin covered with a mermaid costume usually made out of fabric, neoprene, silicone or latex.
Q: What is important to know before I buy a mermaid tail?
A: There are many different mermaid tails available in the market. Unfortunately many of them have a bad quality and some of them are actually dangerous to use in the water. Before you buy your mermaid tail, make sure that it includes a proper freediving mono fin. This means that the blade of the fin is made out of materials like a hard plastic, carbon fiber or glass fiber. Materials like acrylic glass break easily what can lead to dangerous situations in the water. Apart from that, a mono fin should have two separate foot pockets with two foot straps. Some mono fins have adjustable foot straps while others are made for a specific size. Your mono fin should keep the feet apart from each other so that your ankles can’t touch each other while swimming. This can cause pain, break the concentration and can lead to dangerous situations in the water. If your mono fin only has a single foot strap to secure both feed the risk of slipping out of the fin while swimming are pretty high.
Q: What is the difference between a solid color and a multi-color silicone mermaid tail?
A: A silicone mermaid tail with one solid color does not include shading/gradients. The multi-color silicone mermaid tail includes different colors as well as shading/ gradients.
Q: Is mermaiding exhausting?
A: Yes mermaiding is quite tiring. It is a full body workout and will make you fit when you do it regularly. Train your way up before you use your mermaid tail in open water or deep water swims. Never swim in your mermaid tails without a buddy or supervision.
Q: How do I take care of my mermaid tail?
A: You will get a proper instruction when you receive your mermaid tail. But anyway you should always rinse your mermaid tail after the use in chlorine or saltwater. You should avoid sitting, standing or lying on hard undergrounds while wearing your mermaid tail as this can damage your tail.
Q: How long does it take to produce a silicone mermaid tail?
A: As all our silicone mermaid tails are unique, costume sized and handmade it will take up to 60 days until your silicone mermaid tail is ready to be shipped out.
